What liberals often forget is that punishment is an integral part of the rehabilitation process. I think Dostoyevsky was quite right in Crime and Punishment to see punishment as a part of the redemptive process.
Conservatives fall prey to the idea that we can sequester evildoing without taking responsibility for reintegration. This is both irrational and self-defeating. We tend to see prison as a final solution. But if we are really determined to find a final solution, there is a better one, which is tested and true.
I am open to the possibility of mass slaughter of criminal elements and undesirables. You may laugh and consider this a joke, but I do not. We are a society where the liberals slaughter children for convenience.
